Purpose and Reason:

MEDICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (MA) Effective January 1, 2004, the rules are amended to reflect the following statutory increases: 1) the cap on the Minimum Monthly Maintenance Needs Allowance is $2,319; 2) the minimum Protected Resource Amount is $18,552; 3) the Maximum Protected Resource Amount is $92,760; 4) the federal cap for institutionalized individuals is $1,692 monthly; and 5) the SSI Federal Benefit Rates as increased by the Social Security Administration’s cost-of-living adjustment. Effective January 1, 2004, the medically needy income limits are increased pursuant to R.I.G.L. 40-8-3.
