Purpose and Reason:

1.   Proposed changes to the definition of "total length" to correct an inadvertent error in the language adopted in the most recent filing of this rule (effective date May 17, 2026) regarding the total length measurement for striped bass.  As a Direct Final Rule filing, the Division believes this change presents a clarification only and does not expect the proposed rule to be controversial (section 1.10NNNNN).
