Purpose and Reason:
The Department of Business Regulation (“Department”) hereby repeals Insurance Regulation 70 effective April 15, 2009 and makes this statement in accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws § 42-35-2.3. The Department makes this repeal in order to eliminate this regulation which is based on a statute which has itself been repealed R.I. Gen. Laws § 27-3-49. The regulation provided a procedure whereby interested persons could inquire as to whether a particular insurer is license. This information is routinely provided on the Department’s website and on informal inquiry to any inquiring party. There are no differences between the text of the proposed rule as published in accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws § 42-35-3 and the rule as adopted.
