Purpose and Reason:
These regulations are no longer needed. There were no federal standards when these regulations were originally adopted in 1990. However, the requirements in these regulations have been superseded by the federal MQSA program (42 U.S.C. 263b), which is the default standard for all facilities providing mammography services.
