Title 410 Board of Elections
Chapter 20 Elections
Subchapter 00 N/A
Part 19 Rules and Regulations for Voter Registration
Type of Filing Amendment
Regulation Status Inactive
Effective 12/21/2011 to 03/22/2012

Regulation Authority:

R.I.G.L. 17-9.1

Purpose and Reason:

The purpose of this amendment is to modify the Rhode Island voter registration form, and give people registering the option of checking off the recognized political party they would like to join instead of having to write in the party name. The "Rhode Island Voter Identification Card" has also been added to the list of acceptable identifications. As a result of comments received, the following changes were made that were not originally part of the proposed text. 1) In section 3 part A-9 language was added mandating that the updated voter registration forms must used online as soon as possible, and at the Local Boards of Canvassers within 60 days. Also, the Board of Elections may not use outdated forms for more than 90 days.
