Purpose and Reason:
The purpose of this filing is to adopt the rules and regulations for staff members, instructors, and recruits of the Municipal Police Training Academy. As a result of comments received, the following changes where made that were not originally part of the proposed text: 1. Chapter III, Section 7, Reporting Harassment and Discrimination: The language “Failure to report an incident immediately will not preclude a recruit from pursuing a complaint” was added for clarity purposes. 2. Chapter III, Section 8(C), Personal Appearance, General Hair Regulations: language was added to the title of subsection 1 to make the regulation specific to staff members and instructors; subsection 2 was added and made specific to male and female recruits. Also, in subsection 1 the words “braids” and “cornrows” were removed, which makes those styles allowable for staff and instructors. 3. Appendix Item A-5: the sentence “except for gross negligence or unlawful conduct as determined by a Court of Law” was added to the last sentence of Section 5 to further refine the language. 4. Appendix Item A-6: the sentence “except for gross negligence or unlawful conduct as determined by a Court of Law” was added to the last sentence of Section 6 to further refine the language.
