Purpose and Reason:
The purpose of this adoption is to put into effect the rules and regulations governing members of the Rhode Island Capitol Police. New changes include: Chapter II, Section 9(a), the term "gender identity" was added sot that the section would be in full compliance with current state anti-discrimination laws; Chapter II, Section 18(b, the sentence "This provision is not intended to preclude the exercise of members' rights under state and/or federal law," was added to clarify that there is not intention of infringing on employees' rights under state and federal law; Chapter II, Section 22(a), the sentence "Such association may be permitted where unavoidable because of family relationships with a department employee," was added for further clarificiationon what is permissible under this section; Chapter II, Section 53(a), a sentence was deleted to clarify the purpose of the rule, which is that no posted department notice can be modified by an employee.
