Purpose and Reason:
The purpose of this proposed regulation is to reduce emissions of air pollutants from heavy-duty diesel engines (HDDE) as part of Rhode Island’s overall effort to attain and maintain the National Ambient Air Quality Standard for ozone. Air Pollution Control Regulation No. 42 will require all 2005 and 2006 engine model year heavy-duty diesel powered motor vehicles, to meet emission standards applicable under Title 13, section 1956.8 of the California Code of Regulations.
