Purpose and Reason:
The proposed amendments are required to bring the State's safety requirements into compliance with recent amendments being imposed by the United States Coast Guard. The bulk of the proposed amendments govern the requirements for personal flotation devices and lights, but also increase the minimum amount of property damage required in order to impose a reporting requirement upon the owner/operator of a vessel which is involved in an accident. No changes were made as a result of the public hearing.
