Title | 250 | Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management |
Chapter | 60 | Fish and Wildlife |
Subchapter | 00 | N/A |
Part | 9 | Hunting Regulations for the 2013 - 2014 Season |
Type of Filing | Technical Revision |
Regulation Status | Inactive |
Effective | 08/15/2013 to 08/21/2014 |
Regulation Authority:
RIGL Sections 20-1-2; 20-1-4; 20-1-8; 20-1-12; and 20-1-13; and Chapters 42-17.1; 20-15; and 20-18, and in accordance with Chapters 42-35
Purpose and Reason:
The purpose of this filing is to make a technical revision to the 2013 - 2014 Rhode Island Hunting Regulations, Sections 1.2.2.2 and 1.2.3.1 to eliminate the term “statewide” and replace it with “Zones 1 and 2”. The term statewide inaccurately reflects the regulation as presented. The management restrictions covered under this section relate only to Zones 1 and 2 and not Zones 3 or 4, which are noted in the subsequent sections. The use of the term “statewide” is an artifact of past regulations prior to implementation of management zones and as such represents an inconsistency in the regulations. The second revision is also in Rule 7 Part 1 Section 1.11. There is an inconsistency in the dates and phrasing regarding the deer check stations. The second sentence of this paragraph reads “Except that, during the first four (4) days of the Muzzleloader deer season, November 9 thru 12, all deer harvested statewide must be brought to a State Operated Checking Station to be physically weighed, measured and inspected with the exception of Block Island.” The first four days of the muzzleloader season are November 7-10, not 9-12 as they currently appear in the regulations. The requested revision is required in order to provide internal consistency within the regulations and to avoid public confusion. This revision makes the regulations consistent with existing wording in Section 1.2.2
