Purpose and Reason:
These regulations address the reduction and recycling of solid waste generated by commercial sources and non-municipal sources in the State of Rhode Island. These regulations define the lists of recyclable materials for commercial and for non-municipal residential solid waste, set schedules for recycling in the same categories, for submitting source reduction and recycling plans, reporting source reduction and recycling activities, and for establishing enforcement procedures. For the purpose of these regulations, non-municipal solid residential solid waste would be that generated from residences from which municipalities do not accept responsibility for disposal, such as apartment and condominium complexes.
