Purpose and Reason:
Effective 02/01/09, in response to comments, substantive changes have been made to the proposed rule regarding the allowance of generic-only prescriptions for RIte Care enrolled members. The rule now specifies that the Department of Human Services will specify certain allowed brand therapeutic classes/single agent Drugs that are to be exempted from the generic-only formulary. Criteria for the approval of exemptions to generic-only formulary are outlined in DHS policy.
