R.I.G.L. 40-8; Title XIX of the Social Security Act; Balanced Budget Act of 1997

Purpose and Reason:

Pursuant to the sunset provisions contianed in Section 4732 of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, to amend the rules to discontinue MA Medicare Premium Payment benefits for Qualifying Individuals-2 (QI-2) effective January 1, 2003 and to clarify that continued benefits for Qualifying Individuals-1 (QI-1) are subject to federal appropriations.
