Purpose and Reason:
The annual Cost of Living Adjustments to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) became effective October 2009. The following changes were implemented under emergency regulatory filing 10/09: 1. gross and net income eligibility standards increased. 2. The excess shelter deduction increased from four hundred and forty - six dollars ($446.00) to four hundred and fifty - nine dollars ($459.00). 3. The standard deduction for household sizes 1 through 3 decreased to $141; for a household of 4, increased from $147 to $153; for a household of 5, increased from $172 to $179; and for households of 6 and larger, increased from $197 to $205.
