Purpose and Reason:
Effective October 1, 2002, to increase the resource standard for disabled individuals from $2,000 to $3,000; to change the fixed standard deduction to a deduction set at 8.31% of the federal poverty level for a household's size but not less than $134 and no more than that for a household size of 6; and extends eligibility to any qualified immigrant who is otherwise eligible and receives blind or disability benefits, regardless of date of entry.
