Purpose and Reason:
To update the Medical Assistance rules to reflect the 2012 increase to the resource limits for the Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMB), Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiaries(SLMB), and Qualifying Individuals (QI) Programs to be consistent with provisions of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA). The new resource limits are $6,940 for an individual and $10,410 for a couple. These resource limits are adjusted on January 1st of each year, based upon the change in the annual consumer price index (CPI) since September of the previous year.
