Purpose and Reason:

Effective January 1, 2011, the resource limits for the Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMB), Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiaries (SLMB), and Qualifying Individuals (QI) Programs have increased. The new resource limits are $6680 for an individual and $10,020 for a couple. These resource limits are adjusted on January 1st of each year, based upon the change in the annual consumer price index (CPI) since September of the previous year. The Department filed emergency rule-making to implement the change in resource limits on January 11, 2011.
