RIGL 40-8; TITLE XVI OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY ACT
Purpose and Reason:
RI General Law was amended to provide a State payment for the benefit of Supplemental Security Income recipients residing in assisted living facilities financed by the RI Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation (RIHMFC). This monthly payment is equal to two-hundred and six dollars ($206) per individual per month subject to available funding. The Department of Human Services is authorized to implement these payments subject to funding made available through the Rhode Island General Assembly. The rules further include the authority to make retroactive payments back to October 1, 2014 to facilities that provide the necessary documentation regarding eligible residents. The Department will reach out and work directly with the facilities regarding verification and documentation requirements for payments.
Brief statement of Reason for Finding Imminent Peril:
To facilitate the State payment for the benefit of SSI recipients residing in assisted living facilities eligible under funding available through RI General Law.
