Purpose and Reason:
Pursuant to R.I.G.L. 40-6-27 as amended by 2002 P.L., Ch.65, Art.35, effective January 1, 2003 to reduce the state's monthly share of supplementary assistance to the SSI program for each of the following payment levels by the same value as the annual federal cost of living adjustment published by the federal Social Security Administration in October 2002 and becoming effective January 1, 2003, as determined under provisions of Title XVI of the federal Social Security Act (42U.S.C. Section 1381 et seq.): 1) individual living alone; 2) individual living with others; 3) couple living alone; 4) couple living with others; 5) individual living in state licensed residential care and assisted living facilities.
