Purpose and Reason:
The Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children (ICPC), a multistate arrangement in which the Department is a participant, ensures protection and services to Rhode Island children who are placed across state lines for foster care or adoption. The Compact has established standardized and orderly procedures for the interstate placement of children.
