Purpose and Reason:
The purpose of these emergency amendments is to incorporate the 2017 Spousal Impoverishment Standards that were published by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on June 5, 2017 to take effect on July 1, 2017. These rules are being filed on an “emergency” basis to accommodate this compressed time line. Additionally, the purpose of the emergency filing is to ensure that Rhode Islanders have timely access to Medicaid benefits effective date of filing of the regulations.
Brief statement of Reason for Finding Imminent Peril:
The Spousal Impoverishment Standards were published by the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on June 5, 2017 to take effect on July 1, 2017.
