Purpose and Reason:

The proposed amendment to the Board of Education Regulations Governing the Certification of Educators in Rhode Island is to expedite the implementation of teh proviously approved Section 8.2, Temporary Initial Educator Preliminary Certificate. The Temporary Initial Educator Preliminary Certificate was approved by the Board of Regents as part of the certification regulations on November 3, 2011 for implementation on January 1, 2015. Based on requests from school districts and educators, the Rhode Island Department of Education seeks to implement this certificate on April 8, 2013.
