The General Treasurer is a statewide general officer dedicated to promoting economic growth and financial stability for all Rhode Islanders. As steward of the state's finances, the General Treasurer oversees the state's investments, banking, borrowing, and retirement system. The General Treasurer is the chair of the State Investment Commission, the Public Finance Management Board, and the Board of the Employees’ Retirement System of Rhode Island. The General Treasurer is responsible for the management of the Unclaimed Property division and the Crime Victim Compensation Program. The General Treasurer is one of five General Officers elected every four years by the statewide electorate.
