Regulation Authority :

RIGL Chapter 42-17.1; Chapter 42-17.6; Chapter 4-4; and Chapter 42-35 in addition to Code of Federal Regulations Title 9 part 79.6

Purpose and Reason :

The rules are necessary to remain consistent with federal regulations regarding the disease of sheep and goats known as scrapie. There is no reliable test for this fatal disease, and it has a very long incubation period. The only means of control is through monitoring herds and testing animals at slaughter. To trace potentially infected animals, there needs to be a unique means of ID for each animal.

There are no electronic rulemaking documents for rules filed prior to August 14, 2018. For rulemaking documents for rules filed prior to this date, please contact the appropriate agency's Rules Coordinator.
