Purpose and Reason :
On July 10, 2006, Governor Carcieri signed into law the Anti-Idling Act, which prohibits the unnecessary idling of diesel powered equipment. The Act requires the Department of Environmental Management to adopt rules governing diesel engine idling in order to restrict the unnecessary operation of diesel motor vehicles and non-road diesel engines.
